That’s what my customers say:

… I cannot tell you how much we appreciated the warmth of your welcome for us in Berlin and the professional manner in which you gave us such an interesting tour of Berlin and Potsdam. It was personal and professional. In fact our morning and afternoon with you was one of the outstanding memories we have of our trip to Germany this year. ….

… Lastly I want to express high praise for Kerstin Piontek, She proved not only to be extremely knowledgeable about historic Berlin, but also about the contemporary life of the city. She was also wonderful company – an inexhaustible supply of sharp observation, wit and good conversation. You should be very proud to have her in your employ.

Your kind and friendly spirit made the time more enjoyable and I would be very happy to reciprocate with the same, if you decide one day to visit Israel.

We wanted to take one more opportunity to thank you for your exceptional work on the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Patron Tour 2001. Your expertise regarding the destination and the logistics, your experience with our travellers, your terrific attitude, your warmth, your creativity, and your sense of humour all helped make our tour unforgettable. The patrons have expressed their gratitude for such a wonderful experience, and we wish to pass those thanks on to you.

As members of the travel industry, we appreciate the work with professionals such as yourself on whom we can depend.

We very much enjoyed your tour of Berlin and the insight you were able to give us into the new combination of the two Berlin since 1989. We have told several people how wonderful your tour was and I expect that in the future you will be getting calls from them asking you to take them around when they visit Berlin.

We saw a recent newspaper article in a local paper which was copied from an article in The Los Angeles Times. You were mentioned in it as taking the reporter around. It was fun to see your name and picture so soon after our trip to Berlin.

Once again it was a pleasure getting to know you.

But first Kerstin Piontek, city guide and lifelong Berliner, has brought me here to the center of born-again Berlin, Europe´s largest construction site, where the world´s leading architects are at play.

As an East Berliner formerly barred form entry into the west, Piontek remembers the death strip well. And she also knows what lies under that idle lot about 100 yards from here: the rubble of the bunker where, 12 years after taking control of Germany and steering it toward World War II and a Jewish genocide, Adolf Hitler committed suicide on April 30, 1945.

Christopher Reynolds, Los Angeles Times

“Every Western tourist asks me that,” said Kerstin. “…” was daily life different after the Wall fell?” … mostly they just want me to say it was wonderful.”

Kerstin – long cream leather coat, Dietrich cheekbones, Garbo smile – was an East Berliner and was going to show me something of her city.

“It´s not that simple“, she went on. “The changes have been bad as well as good. We can buy material things we only dreamed of before, but we`re not neighbourly the way we were or as kind to each other. We used to be certain of our jobs and flats for life. Not any more. And we live with constant change. Our railway, our underground, our radio and television, our electric and gas systems, everything must change to conform with the West. Even our dial tone is different now.”

Thank you for doing such a great job on the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Patron Tour to Berlin. Your creative ideas, organized planning, and flexibility made it possible to present a very successful tour in difficult times. You are an extraordinary person; rarely can one person be a superb planner and a fabulous guide. You do both beautifully.
